Wedding on the Slopes in Thornbury, Ontario | Heather and Alyssa
Heather & Alyssa live in the US, but have deep connections to the Georgian Bay area with plenty of family close by. They had originally planned their wedding for 2020, but we all know how that unfolded. Family & friends are a top priority for these two, so trimming their wedding guest-list down didn’t feel right. They stuck with their original plan of a large wedding and postponed it to 2022 instead. It worked out for the best because they got to be surrounded by all of their favourite people. They were also fortunate enough to get ready at the recently opened (and very chic) Penny’s Motel, and have their wedding at Georgian Peaks’ brand new event venue in Thornbury, Ontario.
Their day began with Heather and Alyssa arriving at Penny’s Motel. They got ready with their respective bridal parties, which consisted of family and close friends from different times in their lives. When they were dressed, they each strolled out to the garden, hands covering their eyes as their friends peered through the window to watch the surprise of their first look. Neither of them knew the style or design of the other’s outfit. It always makes me giddy with excitement when I get to see a couple clad in wedding attire before they get to see each other! On three, they dropped their hands and grinned as they took each other in before running into each other’s arms.
Everyone clambered onto the bus that took them to Georgian Peaks Ski Club. The place was beautifully decorated with floral arrangements by Ashley Elaine Florals. They had their wedding ceremony outside at the base of the slopes and were married by one of their closest friends. After saying their vows in front of their loved ones, they shared a champagne toast. We dashed across the road to Delphi Point for a few couple’s portraits at golden hour. Then everyone celebrated together at Georgian Peaks with delicious food catered by Men With Knives and an elegant three-tier cake made by Heather’s Aunt Karen. It wasn’t long before the shotski came out and an epic dance party ensued. It was such an honour to be part of Heather and Alyssa’s much anticipated wedding. Below are some of my favourite moments from the day.
