There’s a lot of advice about how to structure your wedding day.

Take time away.
Stay with your guests.
Make sure you get all the photos.
Don’t miss anything.

And it makes sense. There’s a lot of noise around what a wedding day sh
I’ve always been drawn to light.
Not in a technical way.
 Just in the way it behaves.

The way it moves, shifts, dances, changes throughout the day.
 How it catches on things and then disappears a second later.
How it can spotlight an ordinary
Movement changes things.
In life, it’s how we process, release, come back to ourselves.

And in photography, it’s often where people stop trying and start feeling like themselves again.
The still moments matter.

But the way someone moves
Not your typical walk down the aisle.

A Northridge Inn wedding in the tall pines of Muskoka.

They read their vows in the quiet of the pines, just the two of them.
Then stepped out onto a dock in the middle of the lake to say “I do.”

I’m always aware of how quickly it all moves.
How easy it is for the day to pass without really settling anywhere.

One moment into the next, without much space in between.
I think about that while I’m photographing.
Not in a way that tri
You won’t remember everything from your wedding day.
The quiet details tend to fade first.
So I pay attention to them...
the small, unspoken moments that hold the day together.
